Tesla has opened a new Megacharger in Bloomington, California, adding a six-stall public charging location for Tesla Semi customers roughly an hour east of Los Angeles. According to a July 17 report from Sawyer Merritt, each stall is capable of a peak output of 1.2 megawatts, or 1,200 kilowatts. Tesla’s own Find Us map links to the Bloomington Megacharger location, making this more than a construction sighting: it is an operational piece of the company’s heavy-duty charging network.

Six stalls—and a much bigger infrastructure signal

The headline number is 1.2MW per stall, but the more important development is public access for customers. Electric trucks can charge at private depots, yet freight routes do not always begin and end at the same yard. A public Megacharger gives fleet operators another place to plan energy stops while keeping trucks moving through Southern California’s logistics network. Six stalls also matter operationally: charging capacity is only useful when a driver can reach an available plug.

Peak power is not the same as a guaranteed charging rate. Actual performance can vary with battery temperature, state of charge, site load and the truck’s charging curve. Tesla has not provided a session-by-session speed guarantee in the linked map listing, so the 1.2MW figure should be understood as the reported peak capability of each stall—not a promise that every truck will hold that output for an entire stop.

Why Bloomington matters for Tesla Semi customers

Bloomington sits in the Inland Empire, a region defined by warehouses, distribution centers and heavy truck traffic. That makes it a logical place to test whether megawatt charging can fit into real freight operations rather than controlled demonstrations. The opening also gives Tesla Semi customers a visible public node near one of North America’s most important logistics markets. One site cannot create a national corridor, but each live location reduces the distance between the Semi program and routine commercial use.

Important distinction: Megachargers are designed for Tesla Semi. They are not ordinary Superchargers, and passenger Teslas or Cybertrucks should not be assumed to use them.

A practical charging accessory for Cybertruck owners

The Bloomington opening is fundamentally a Tesla Semi infrastructure story. For individual owners, however, it reinforces the same practical lesson: a vehicle is easier to use when it can reach more compatible charging networks. The closest EVBase match is therefore a charging adapter—not a styling accessory.

The next test is utilization

Bloomington gives Tesla a concrete opportunity to show how public megawatt charging performs when customer trucks arrive on real schedules. Reliability, stall availability and repeatable charging sessions will matter as much as the peak-power figure. If Tesla can reproduce this model along major freight routes, the Semi story will move from isolated fleet deployments toward a usable charging corridor. For now, six live stalls in Southern California are a meaningful start.
