Alex liked the clean, modern design of his Model Y Juniper, but the factory 19-inch Crossflow wheels did not give the vehicle the sporty appearance he wanted.
Replacing the wheels entirely would have been expensive and unnecessary for everyday driving. Instead, he chose the EVBASE 19-Inch Überturbine Style Wheel Covers as a simple way to change the look of the car while keeping the practical advantages of the factory wheels.
Why I Chose This Upgrade
“I wanted the darker, performance-inspired wheel design, but I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a new set of wheels,” Alex said. “These covers gave me the look I wanted without turning it into a complicated project.”
The matte black, 10-spoke design creates a stronger contrast against the vehicle’s white body and gives the Model Y Juniper a lower, more performance-focused appearance.
Beyond styling, the full-coverage design also helps conceal existing curb marks and protects the outer edge of the factory wheels against everyday scratches and scuffs.
Before & After
Before the upgrade, the factory wheel covers looked clean and understated, but Alex felt they blended too much into the rest of the vehicle.
After installing the Überturbine Style Wheel Covers, the darker wheels became a much stronger part of the overall design. The matte black finish created a sharper contrast with the body color, while the turbine-inspired spokes gave the side profile more visual movement.
The result looked more like a complete wheel upgrade than a simple cover replacement.
The Installation
1. Removing the Factory Wheel Covers
Alex used the included pry tool to carefully release the factory covers from each 19-inch wheel.
He worked around the edge gradually instead of pulling from one point, helping the original covers come off smoothly.
2. Applying the Foam Strips
Before fitting the new covers, Alex attached the included vibration-canceling foam strips along the designated contact areas.
The foam creates a cushioned contact point between the wheel cover and the factory wheel, helping reduce movement and unwanted noise while protecting the wheel surface.
3. Aligning and Pressing Each Cover Into Place
Alex aligned each wheel cover with the factory wheel and pressed around the outer edge until all attachment points were securely engaged.
No drilling, adhesives, or additional hardware were required. After checking each cover by hand, the installation was complete.
The Result
The entire upgrade changed the appearance of the Model Y Juniper without replacing the factory wheels.
From a distance, the matte black covers give the vehicle a sportier, more performance-driven stance. Up close, the full-coverage design helps keep the original wheel edges protected from minor everyday damage.
“What surprised me most was how much the wheel covers changed the whole car,” Alex said. “Installation was straightforward, and the finished look feels much more expensive than the upgrade actually was.”
For Alex, it was the right balance of appearance, protection, and everyday practicality.
